Lots has happened since I last posted: Gage finished kindergarten, we closed on a house, spent a week in Florida, Azure moved in with us for the summer, and we have been painting/updating the new house non-stop.
A tad overwhelming. Which is why we really needed a weekend of simplicity, and going to Chittenango Falls for a little exploring was everything we hoped for and more.
|Azure and Gage --- Another big improvement on my end as a Mom, I finally surrendered and am letting Gage pick out his own outfits. Freeing but a tad terrifying on his more "exciting" outfit days. Eek. Future Brooke: Don't judge me!|
This summer I've really had to step back and prioritize the important over everything, including the "urgent". It's been humbling but really, really good. It's cliche, but life isn't a race. I was so silly that I thought I didn't think it was, but now I realize that I actually have always felt in competition with myself and others and oy, well, let's not delve too deeply into my psyche, but end this weird paragraph with this: Neal A. Maxwell said, "Moments are the molecules that make up eternity." I don't want to miss the most important moments, and I don't want to include "moments" that ultimately don't do any good for me or my family. Helping Gage and Kjel navigate slippery rocks while watching Steven hop around lithely on fallen logs -- those are moments that matter.
